| That “Japanese” inspired costume won Sonny the “Best Costume” award for the 1987 Anniversary. I believe that the contest was on the Philippine heroes and he explained that somewhere in Manila in some forgotten plaza is a Philippine hero that was of Japanese descent. What can I say?
Harvard man Sonny was a probee in 1987. I was one of the probees then with batch mates, Manny Gaite, Charlie Rufino, Milo Vasquez, Gigi Zulueta, etc. Mon Abad may have been the president of the club for that year (?). That was the year when: Pros Madamba provided all the models for the evening photo sessions, Vic Valenciano (father of singer Gary Valenciano) gave photo lessons for members, “Photo lessons with the Master’s” was a big hit, and then treasurer of the club, Chuck Buenaventura, never seemed to have any problem with club funds.
