PAUL YAN, 2013
Jesus Paul Yan or simply ‘Paul’ to most of his friends in the club was an active member. He was regularized in 1997. It was in the club where he started contributing to the Viewfinder, the monthly newsletter, which he dubbed ‘The Paul Yan Chronicles’. To some of his contemporaries, his heart attack might not be much of a surprise. Paul was a genuine food lover. Ask about the best adobo, crispy pata or liempo, he simply knows where to find it. Starting in 2008, Paul spent his time teaching photography at the CCP Center.
In September 26, Paul posted this in his facebook status:
“There is usually always something to be thankful for. When you can’t seem to find anything, just remember that simply waking up today is actually one of those things.
Stay positive, live simply, be thankful, and stay balanced.”
On November 6, Paul left, perhaps finding a better club, a better photo location, a better studio perhaps, or a better restaurant to eat at. We thank you for touching our lives one way or another. Goodbye to you… Pol, sir, teacher, Jedimaster, amo, JPY, brod. Your friendship and sense of humor will be missed.
And this was his comment when someone complained about waking up in the morning, “Di bale walang tulog kaysa walang gising.” I still miss Sir Paul.
