Hail to the King

Alfonso Victorio G. Reyno, nicknamed King, was sponsored by former Club President Patrick Uy. He was appointed Probee Leader in April 2011 and was approved as a regular member in May 2011.

King took after his father in his affinity for gadgets and electronics. His interest in photography was apparent at an early age. He regularly took photos as a child, and earned his first SLR, a Nikon EM with a 50mm Nikkor lens, when he was 11 years old. As fate would have it, he lost all of his gear during a family trip overseas, after which he lost interest, limiting himself to shooting with film point-and-shoot cameras for many years. He fondly refers to this period in his photography as the “dark ages”.

In January of 2007, he experienced a renaissance, leading to his purchase of a Canon 400D Digital Rebel – his first SLR in 25 years. It was then that he rediscovered the joy of making images. Four and a half years and several camera bodies and lenses after, King is honing his abilities, inspired by the work of fellow members in the CCP.

Today, his preferred tool is his Canon 5D Mark II paired with his favorite Canon and Carl Zeiss lenses.
The highlight of his CCP membership so far is his having won First Place twice — for Best Photo and for Best Photographer during the Club’s On-the-Spot Competition last 2010 on the subject “Churches”. The fact that he won as a probationary member made it most memorable.

King obtained his Liberal Arts and Commerce degrees in 1992 from De La Salle University. He then studied law at the University of the Philippines, graduating in 1996 with a Dean’s Medal for Academic Excellence and Membership in the Order of the Purple Feather Honor Society. He went on to New York University where he received his Master of Laws in Corporation Law degree in 2003. He is currently a Partner in the Reyno Tiu Domino & Santos Law Firm. He is also the EVP and COO of the Manila Jockey Club, Inc. and a Trustee of the Philippine Bar Association.

Other interests include reading, traveling and singing, which he developed as a member of the Kundirana, the multi-awarded music ministry of La Salle Green Hills. Occasionally, you may also find King on the golf course, where he carries a single-digit handicap. Most of all, he enjoys spending time with his wife Vicky and their three (3) children – Leon Alfonso, Filippo Luis and Daniela Simone.
