Paterno-Santos Exhibit at the CCPC

Lifetime member Bobby Paterno and fellow member Tito Santos will hold a joint photo exhibit at the Camera Club of the Philippines Center (CCPC). Exhibit opening is on November 13, 2010 starting at 4:00PM and will run for a month.

Roberto “Bobby” M. Paterno is a former Senior Vice President of Meralco, now retired, but serving as Consultant to Meralco and as Director in the boards of several NGO’s and private corporations, among them the Philippine Cancer Society of which he is the Chairman. He holds an M.A. from Georgetown University and a Ph.D. from Harvard University. In 2002, his 4-volume compilation of the writings of Fr. Horacio de la Costa, S.J., was conferred the National Book of the Year award in History and Essay.

In 1976, he joined the Camera Club of the Philippines and has been a stalwart ever since, winning the Master Photographer of the Year title in 1984 and taking on the club’s presidency in 1985. He continues to indulge in his passion for photography, though, as he admits, with less energy than in his youth. “I am not learning to exploit the potentials of digital photography as fast as I would like,” he confesses, “But all these potentials have made photography even more interesting and absorbing than ever.”

In 2004, JOSE “TITO” SANTOS , after 33 years of banking career and reaching the position of Executive Vice President and Head of the Commercial Banking Group of RCBC (Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation), decided to retire and “do other things more personally rewarding”. That was when he joined the Camera Club of the Philippines to give vent to his latent interest in photography. Before that , he was just into taking family and holiday photos. Without any formal training except for a couple of seminars and short courses, he hoped that through the exposure to this elite group of photo enthusiasts and professionals, he could imbibe some of their skills and passion for this art. And somehow he did.

Even before being regularized as a member in January 2006, by some good luck he won his first CCP monthly competition award. And with that, he has been “hooked” into photography, regularly joining the club competitions and thoroughly enjoying the experience, including of course the fellowship within the club. And now, after more career shifts,(he joined the government as Department of National Defense Undersecretary and subsequently transferred to the academe, he is currently the Treasurer of the Ateneo de Manila University) he continues to pursue this hobby. He particularly enjoys doing travel photos but easily the most personally rewarding for him is taking pictures of his
grandchildren.

The Camera Club of the Philippines Center is located at the 5th Floor of Waltermart Mall, Pasay Road (now Arnaiz) cor Pasong Tamo (now Chino Roces).
