Two Hot to Handle

September Models of the Month

The meeting last September 6, 2010 was graced by two (2) lovely models who are both active in the local entertainment scene: Ms. Gia Silk and Ms. Maui Taylor. As I found out during my interview with these smart and gorgeous gals, they shared a lot more in common.

First to sit was Gia Silk. Born Georgina Ball to a Filipino mother and an English father, Gia was grew up in Paranaque until she was 8 years old, after which she moved to England to pursue an English education. Except for a brief 2-year period in high school, she completed her studies in England finishing at Writtle College in Chelmsford, near London, with a degree in Animal Care. She went on to work as a veterinary nurse and then sold cars for Ford, Volvo and Audi before coming back to Manila when she was 21 years old to pursue a singing career. Today, at 26, she is the lead singer in a band that plays live acoustic and club music, performing at venues such as the Hard Rock Café. She released her first album entitled “Unique Features” and also manages Clinica Essensa on Gamboa St. in Legaspi Village, making her a singer/model/health care entrepreneur – a unique combination indeed!

Next was Maureen Anne Rodriguez Taylor, more popularly known as Maui Taylor, a lady who needed no introduction. Starting out in the local TV and film industry in her early teens, Maui has been one of the most sexy, talented and famous female personalities to hit the entertainment scene for the past 15 years. Like Gia, Maui was born to a Filipino mother and an English father in Manila, studying at Collegio de San Agustin in high school. While studying, she started as a commercial model. At 14, she landed a role on the hit TV drama, Anna Karenina. Shortly thereafter, she appeared on the cover of FHM and moved on to performing sexy and dramatic movie roles here and abroad as one of the most promising Viva talents. Maui has since been consistently voted among the Philippines’ hottest women, and rightfully so. She has been a much sought after entertainment personality given her various talents from acting, to singing, to hosting and of course, modeling. Fresh from doing 2 movies last year, she is a currently mainstay of the daily tv show, “Stop, Talk and Listen” on Cignal TV’s Viva Cinema Channel and is all set to launch and star in a new, all-girl singing group this October at Resorts World. It was a pleasure taking photos of Maui with her pretty face and fine figure, but an even greater pleasure chatting with her during my interview as I got to know more about the person behind the famous personality that is Maui.

Thanks to Leo Riingen and JR Rodriguez for the invites.
